History
The idea of building an aviary emerged in the mind of late Dr Goh Keng Swee, then finance minister. As soon as the government accepted his proposal the construction work started in January 1969 and in 1971 the park was opened to the public.

There are over 5000 birds in the aviary and of the 400 species 29 of them are threatened species. The park has living specimens of almost all the bird species imaginable form across the world.
