Kanneliya is a tropical low land rain forest of Sri Lanka and which is at Galle district. Kanneliya is very important to biological diversity. There are several waterways, waterfalls, rivers and small waterways at Kanneliya. Kaneliya forest reserve is the last large remaining rainforest in Sri Lanka other than Sinharaja.This forest area has been identified as one of the floristically richest areas in South Asia. The rain forest is a major catchment area for two of the most important rivers in southern Sri Lanka, the Gin and Nilwala Rivers. Trail to Narangas Ella goes deep in to the forest passing several points of interest such as the Giant Navada tree. For those who are interested in taking a natural bath, there are many Streams flowing through Kanneiya offering many opportunities to take a dip in clean, cool waters. Popular natural pools include the pool in front of the Kanneliya conservation center, the pool behind the conservation center and a natural pool behind the Kanneliya Forest resort.
