The King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture is an initiative by the Saudi Aramco Oil Company to celebrate the culture and history of Saudi Arabia. If you’re ever in the area, here’s what you can expect from a visit to the centre.
The Objectives
The Ithra was originally established as a CSR project by Aramco, with the aim of making a positive cultural impact on the local community. Now, if you’re staying at one of the centrally-located Al Khobar apartments – say, for instance, the Ascott Corniche Al Khobar – you can easily visit the Ithra and judge whether the project was a success for yourself.
The Building
The building itself covers a massive stretch of land – 80,000 square metres to be exact! With influences from Norwegian and British designers, the Ithra bears striking architectural features that immediately enthral all who visit it.
Events and Shows
The theatre at the Ithra hosts all kinds of cultural shows and events – from Russian orchestral performances to on-stage versions of the Wizard of Oz! Be sure to check out what shows are on whenever you visit the Ithra yourself!
The Facilities
The Ithra has an extensive list of facilities that are all aimed at educating the public and its visitors. Here you can explore a feature-rich museum, enjoy film screening and peruse a well-stocked library!
