Bangkok is Thailand’s bustling, cosmopolitan capital. It is a city known as much for its excellent shopping as its terrific nightlife. The massive metropolis is home to numerous attractions such as the Grand Palace, the Dusit Palace, the Wat Arun, the Wat Pho, the National Museum and the National Art Gallery. Luckily, travelling from one attraction to another should not be too difficult. Bangkok has good infrastructure and although it may seem like a large, complicated maze, it is surprisingly easy to navigate thanks to its comprehensive public transport system, which includes a vast network of trains and buses.
This lively cosmopolitan locale boasts an array of green spaces that afford some welcome serenity from the chaos of the concrete jungle. The King Rama IX Park is one of the largest public parks in Bangkok and the most expansive green area that can be found within the city. The park was opened in 1987 to commemorate the sixtieth birthday of King Bomibol Adulyadej. It spans an area of around two hundred acres and is divided into six distinct areas. This wonderful park is gorgeously landscaped and lovingly maintained, and is a tranquil oasis to picnic or relax in. In addition to walking about and enjoying the natural beauty, visitors should also make it a point to visit the large lake found at its centre.
The large, calm open spaces of the park stand in stark contrast to the city grown around it, which is constantly abuzz with activity. The park is a good spot to go to relax, have a picnic, play a few fun games with the kids or just engage in some quiet people-watching. The public park is open daily from 5 am to 5 pm. One has to pay a small fee to get in, but it is totally worth it. The King Rama IX Park is situated close to central Bangkok and the Udom Suk BTS is the closest train station to it.
Although the city does have a good public transport system, tourists should investigate the options for quality Hotels Bangkok has to offer international guests that also occupy a convenient location. The Anantara Bangkok Sathorn is a stylish offering of a Bangkok Hotel with a central location and is located mere minutes away from the city’s prominent commercial and shopping spots. It also offers excellent facilities and is the ideal accommodation choice for business and leisure travellers.
