Getting there
Even though there are many ways of getting up there, the safest and the easiest is through ‘Meemure‘ which is the closest village in the vicinity and it is the place where you can find accommodation, the village is located near the Hunnasgiriya town which is a 1.5 hours bus journey away from Kandy town and from Hunnasgiria town you have to again take a bus to reach Meemure. If not you can take a taxi (3- wheeler) to reach here.
Where to stay

You might need a whole day to travel Meemure form Colombo so if you are planning to stay the night at this village the most common places to stay are the temple and the school and sometimes you can also stay at a villagers house if they approve. You have to start your climb in morning hours, the earlier the better so it is necessary to rest well and start your climb early.

Remember you are planning to climb a mountain and you are far from help so it is necessary to take all the necessary gear with you for a safe and effective hike. Some of the things you might need are a good pair of shoes, a bottle of water, climbing ropes and a small first aid kit in cases of emergency you might also need a knife or a multipurpose tool and be vigilant of your surroundings all the time and safety should be your first priority
