Crisscrossing its lush waters through the city of Guilin, the Li River flows magnificently in appearance with an aura of serenity that has captivated visitors time after time. The long length of this river bordered with lofty mountains makes this the most picture perfect scenery in Guilin. For years this location has been the epitome of inspiration and has attracted countless poets, artists and novelists to trigger within their hearts a feeling they have never felt before.
Known famously as the city’s heart and soul, the Li River has become a landmark of China that has always been printed on the underside of the 20CNY note. The river runs along a total of 160 kms and has 3 primary scenic locations. The first one runs from downtown Guilin to Ox Gorge and consists of an array of little villages that enables one to have spectacular views of the mountains merging with the waters. Other attractions in this stretch include the Pagoda Hill, The Elephant Trunk Hill, Duxu Ancient Town, the Ox Gorge and the Forest of Odd Shaped Peaks. The second length runs from Ox Gorge to the nearby Water Dropping Town. This stretch predominantly consists of an array of rocky mountains and is the location where you can find the Crown Cave, Mural Hill, Half Side Ferry and the Wangfu Rock. The Xingping landscape is a must not miss when cruising through this region. The third stretch runs from the Water Dropping Village to Yangusho, portraying an array of exotic and captivating scenery. The rich stones and spectacular caves add to the intriguing side of the Li River attractions.
