Located on Hong Kong’s island of Ma Wan, the Ma Wan Park is a massive park that is mostly known for its life sized replica of Noah’s Biblical Ark. The ark is situated by the Rambler Channel, adjacent to the Tsing Ma Bridge which joins Ma Wan Island to Tsing Yi Island. Noah’s Ark is a great place for a family outing but is also suitable for couples and groups of friends.
Opened in 2009 the ark contains around sixty seven pairs of full scale animal replicas including giraffes, elephants, lions as well as birds and reptiles. There are several exhibits inside the ark. The exhibits are mainly aimed at children and range from a miniature zoo to an obstacle course for adults which must be booked in advance by those who want to use it.
Visitors must also make sure to visit the Solar Tower, which is the largest vacuum solar telescope in Southeast Asia that is accessible to the public. It enables one to watch activity on the surface of the sun. The Nature Garden is another park highlight. Combining education, nature and fun the park is a terrific place to learn about trees.
Although the park is open from 10 am to 6 pm entry cut-off times vary for different exhibits. Tickets can be purchased from 9.45 am to 5.30 pm. Those planning on visiting here can check the park’s official website for more details on timings. Since it is a major tourist destination getting here is not difficult and one can choose from a variety of options. Although one can get here by bus and taxi the best way is by ferry. The ride may not be long but can be quite fun.
