George Town, Penang is in the northeast of Malaysia. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 and is a great place to explore.

1. Little India
The Indian-Muslim community is great for food that is a delightful mix of Tamil-Indian and Arabic cuisine. It is also great to just walk around and explore. You will feel like you aren’t in Penang anymore as all the street signs, shops and people are all in Hindi or Tamil.
2. Penang Road Market
The Penang Road Market opens on Sundays and is a loud, chaotic smorgasbord of discovery. There’s clothing on bargains, fresh poultry and all kinds of household items.
3. The Street Art
If you stay over at a hotel in Malaysia, Penang is the place to go for a complete education of the various cultures that make up the diverse communities in the country. George Town’s street art is what put it on the UNESCO list and there no trip complete without visiting the brightly coloured masterpieces.
4. Clan Jetty
Taking the Penang Heritage Trail, you will come across the six water villages of the oldest Chinese clans. The long walkway stretches out to sea and the houses are set on stilts. Only one of the clan jetties; the Chew Jetty is tourist-friendly. So be mindful when you visit.
5. Penang Butterfly FarmThe Butterfly Farm is a must-see attraction. Situated about 45 minutes’ drive from Travelodge Georgetown along the coastal road, the farm has 200 exotic flora and is home to more than 15,000 butterflies. It is educational and beautiful.
