Yala National Park
The national park is almost 98,000 hectares of diverse wildlife. You can learn more about leopard conservation and take a safari into the plains to see elephants, sloth bears and more.
Buduruwagala
Buduruwagala is a 15m tall façade on a rock face that is carved in the likeness of Buddha. It is almost 1000 years old.
Okanda Devalaya
If you are staying at a local resort the likes of Uga Chena Huts, drive up to Okanda Devalaya on your way to Kumana National Park for a bit of bird-watching. There are some folk tales to listen to.
Kebiliththa
Before entering the 4th block of the national park, you will come across Kebiliththa. It is a religious site for both Buddhists and Hindus. It is one of the places you must visit if you are looking for things to do in Yala.
Sithulpawwa
Once believed to have been a gigantic monastic complex home to 12,000 monks, Sithulpawwa showcases the ruins of a kingdom 2,200 years old.
Magul Maha Vihara
A romantic location, Magul Maha Vihara is said to be where King Kavantissa and Queen Vihara Maha Devi got married. Their story is an epic historical romance.
