The Cave of Vijjadharas consists of the main Buddha statue carved into the rock boulder with four small bas relief carvings of Buddha above the head of the main Buddha on either side. The Excavated Cave features an image of the Buddha in dhayana mudra while the Cave of Standing Image features a majestic image of a 7 feet standing Buddha, standing on a lotus pedestal. In the Cave of Standing image, one finds a massive reclining Buddha with a standing image standing at the head of the reclining image which is believed to be the statue of Ananda Thero grieving at the passing away of the Buddha. .
