If you’re looking for the perfect location in Langkawi to explore and take in the scenery, look no further than the Pulau Payar Marine Park. Offering some of the best snorkelling opportunities in the region, a visit here is one you won’t soon forget.
The Location
Pulau Payar is found around 30 kilometres away from the main island of Langkawi. If you’re staying at a family resort Langkawi has to offer – say, for instance, the Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa – you might be able to book a boat directly to the location.
The Islands
Pulau Payar is made up of four islands and three much smaller islands – the park itself is spread over two nautical miles and is mostly warm and shallow coastal waters that are teeming with life.
The Marine Life
Marine life is abundant here in the marine park. Dive spots like the Coral Garden are home to an array of endangered reef fish. In fact, the area is used as a nursing ground by a variety of smaller shark species.
Things to Do
There are a number of snorkelling and diving spots to choose from in Pulau Payar but do keep in mind that this is a protected area. This means that you’ll need to get permission from the local authorities before you dive into the water.
