One such interesting architectural piece is Pura Puseh, which dates back to the 11th century is a temple that has intricate stone carvings around it. Located off the main road of the village there is also an inscription found in the temple that testifies the founding date of Batuan to 1022 AD. There was restoration work that took place in the temple in 1992, however great care was taken to preserve its original state. There can be a strong influence of Indian architecture seen in the five tiered building. The icons and decorations of the temple however adhere to the Balinese style. There are some significant festivals that take place in the temple annually.
