The ArtScience Museum in the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort complex designed to promote innovation, curiosity and inspiration is appropriately located in a fantastic and thought provoking structure resembling a lotus flower. The 6,000 sq meters of gallery space is found in its round base in the middle and the curved ten petals or extensions that are lit by skylights at their top. The rainwater of the museum is harvested in a reflecting pool below ground level and is recycled for use in the facility’s rest rooms.
The museum’s permanent collection display creative exhibits from the arts, sciences, media and technology and design and architecture through the ages that has aroused curiosity and has inspired others. Objects include mock-ups of Leonardo Da Vinci’s flying machine, a Kongming lantern, a robotic fish, an accurate replica of an Arab dhow named the Jewel of Muscat presented by the government of Oman to Singapore. Additionally a floating staircase, giant kinetic images flashed on walls rising to 60 meters, interactive touch screens to create designs are a few of the other exciting exhibits and facilities available here. Visitors are not only taken through the creative process in display themed Curiosity, Inspiration and Creativity but are allowed to participate in the creative process itself. The exhibits are not intended to be just inanimate objects to look at but to be touched and experienced and are part of a living breathing experiment to involve all visitors.

Recent exhibitions have included a Herman Miller show by Eames, Mummy Secrets of the Tombs accompanied by a 3D film depicted by the British Museum and an exhibition based on Harry Potter memorabilia. A Titanic artefact show, art exhibitions featuring Van Gogh, Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali, Tang Dynasty treasures discovered in a shipwreck, 50 greatest photographs of National Geographic are among the innovative and shows of excellent quality presented here.
