Created by Nyoman Rudana in Peliatan, Gianyar Regency, Bali, the Rudana Art Museum is known for incorporating a philosophy which involves a great contribution from arts in spreading prosperity and world peace. This attraction was conceptualized and built with an all-inclusive paradigm. The museum houses symbols of human devotion to God.
The museum’s creator had basically envisioned a building which combines staff, management, both internal and external environment, spatial and the collection of exhibits. Sprawling across 500 square metres, the building has three stories and features philosophical artefacts and examples of Balinese architecture. Some exhibits highlight the concept of the universe, Tri Loka which is divided into swah, bwah and bur, Tri Manggala and Tri Angga, which involves the three main parts of the human body; legs, trunk and head.
With a connection with Bali’s fine art development, these philosophical concepts are nicely reflected in the works of artists from past to the present. Indonesia’s national flag is reflected by the museum’s outer walls; sandstone was used for the white part whilst red bricks were used for the red part.
Over 400 pieces of sculpture and fine art created by various Indonesian artists are exhibited here. The paintings are arranged in such a way to represent a harmony of style corresponding to the building’s philosophical concept.
