Located in an area well known for its galleries and creative spirit Salsali Private Museum with its collection of contemporary Middle Eastern and international art is the first of its kind in the Middle East. The private museum has been set up with the aim of showcasing art where collectors and artists can meet to seek advice on trends, how to exhibit works, where to purchase art works and even on how to set up a gallery. While showcasing works from its collection, it also hosts collections from around the world and serves as the moving force behind the introduction of new works to both new and well known collectors and to the public. Opened towards the end of 2011 the museum has already held several exhibitions that have included video installation, photography and children’s paintings on various themes and a charity auction and it is currently running an exhibition by the Iranian artist Pantea Rahmani and an exhibition on the history of Iranian film making in the 1960s and 70s. A section of the museum is offered to collectors and institutions to display their private collections enabling them to be a part of the rapidly evolving Dubai art scene. The opening of the private museum is being seen by the government of Dubai as making an enormous contribution to activating and energizing the art scene in the Gulf Region.
