If you are a shopaholic, then you already know that Dubai is one of the best places on the planet for a shopping spree. Here’s a quick rundown of what to keep in mind when planning a “shop till you drop” kind of holiday!
Mega Malls
Many of the malls in Dubai are huge and offer all the latest brands and plenty of family entertainment. The Dubai Mall, the Mall of the Emirates, the Burjuman Mall and the City Centre Deira Mall within 15 minutes from Avani Deira Dubai Hotel are amongst the retail hubs to visit.
Scintillating Souks
For a more traditional shopping experience, head to one of the famed local souks. Visiting the Gold Souk is one of the key things to do in Deira, Dubai and you can find all manner of gold jewellery and accessories here. Also of interest is the aroma-filled Spice Souk and for something more modern, the Electronics Souk!
Fantastic Festivals
If you are looking for the best bargains and deals, check to see if one of Dubai’s shopping festivals are on. The most popular ones include the month long Dubai Shopping Festival generally in January and the six week Dubai Summer Surprises usually beginning in July.
Keep in Mind
Do remember that the larger malls and shopping centres are open from about 10am till 10pm though most stores are shut on Friday morning since it’s a holy day in the UAE. Make sure to also check out Dubai Duty Free at the Dubai International Airport which also offers some great deals.
