Location

The origins
The great monument dates back to the 2nd century. It is said in the books of history that the monastery was built by King Kavantissa.
Sithulpawwa
The name “Sithulpawwa” was derived from the ancient words “Chiththala Pabbatha”. This translated to “the hill of the quiet mind”.
What to see
This religious site is home to amazing historic remnants of the Anuradhapura period. Bodhisattva images, stone figurines, and paintings from this period are a few things you will see here. It’s worth visiting if you are lodged at one of the Yala hotels.
