Before travelling to a tropical island like Sri Lanka, there are a few things you need to consider and keep in mind to ensure you have a great holiday.
Health and Safety
Taking care of your health is important regardless of where you are. Carry sunscreen and apply a ton of it on your body before going out. Apply mosquito repellent in the evenings and night, especially if you’re staying out of your hotel.
Animals
Sri Lanka has a lot of wild animals, remember to never approach one or give it food. Stay away from monkeys as they can get quite aggressive.
Food and drink
If you’re staying a hotel such as Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, you’ll find plenty to eat and drink; in terms of variety and quality. Although 90% of street food is safe, eat it with caution. If the place does not look clean or there are no people there, stay away.
Beaches
If you’re staying in the south coast cities of Galle, Mirissa or Weligama, hotel accommodations located on the beach or with a beach view are easy to find. Do your research and book early
