The old Arab Fort
Nestled right in the heart of the stone, the old Arab Fort is well worth a look. Dating back to the 16th century, the old fort was built over the site of a Portuguese church during the Omani occupation.
Forodhani Gardens
Having recently undergone a facelift, the Forodhani Gardens is the main gathering point of Stone Town. Here one can enjoy ornate gardens and stunning views of the port. The gardens can easily be reached from many a Zanzibar beach resort including the likes of The Residence Zanzibar with ease.
House of Wonders
Located right next door to the Arab Fort, holds similar relevance in terms of the island’s past. The House of Wonders was built in 1883 as a ceremonial place, also happened to be the very first building on the island to receive electricity.
