A 120-metre giant Ferris wheel located on the east bank of the Jinji Lake, the Suzhou Ferris Wheel is a must-visit feature when one is vacationing in China’s eastern coastal province of Jiangsu. The Ferris wheel features 60 passenger cabins, which can accommodate a capacity of 300 passengers. The time taken to complete each revolution is approximately 20 minutes.
This Ferris wheel is one out of the four giant Ferris wheels in China, coming second in size only to the Star of Nanchang that was opened in 2006. The other three Ferris wheels are the Changsha Ferris Wheel, the Tianjin Eye and the Zhengzhou Ferris Wheel. The Wheel is located at a picturesque location and is a beautiful sight by night over the dark ripples of the Jinji Lake.
The park is easy to find for anyone driving to the area and it sits next to the large Times Square shopping district. Entrance Tickets to the Ferris wheel park are priced at RMB 80 for adults or for anyone over 140cm tall, and RMB 50 for kids. Out of all the rides and attractions within the park, the Pirate Ship and the Kid’s Labyrinth have separate entrance fees. Boat rides at the park take people to a small island nearby that houses a teahouse, a temple, and a few fascinating walking paths. Boats depart every half hour.
There are several places on Suzhou’s colourful map that are well worth a visit, such as the famous gardens of the city, the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Master-of-Nets Garden. In addition, visitors seeking peaceful excursions may want to visit the Jinji Lake, and perhaps take in a round or two of golf at the International Golf Centre. The younger crowd ready for some excitement and culture could check out the Suzhou Arts & Entertainment Village and the movers and shakers of the business world would appreciate a visit to visit Zuo’an Commercial Street, which caters to high-end businesses.
