Location and Timings
The MGR Film City is an integrated city located in Taramani, making it only a short taxi ride away from the main city and most serviced apartments Chennai has to offer, such as the Citadines OMR Gateway Chennai. The city is open on all days of the week from around 9 or 10 am to 5.30 pm except on Wednesdays.
The City’s Origins
The MGR Film City was established in 1994 to attract both tourists and Tamil movie aficionadas. It was also built with the intention to provide more publicity to aspiring filmmakers, who could showcase their projects at the complex.
What’s There to Do
There’s plenty to do at the film city, from walking across famous shoot locations to examining intricate equipment used in the filmmaking process. Recently, the MGR Knowledge Park was opened at the location – here visitors can learn more about the most notable works of art in the industry, and the people behind them.

The film city is a great place to capture some awesome photographs! Many of the major productions that happened here still have their shooting sets open for you to visit.
