Unwind at the Beach
Known for being home to Johor’s oldest fishing village, Tanjung Balau is now well-known for its beach area where one can soak up the sun, go for a swim or even enjoy some fishing. Within a 15-minute drive from properties such as Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas, it’s a perfect spot for a family picnic too
The Fishermen Museum
The Tanjung Balau Fishermen Museum is also worth a visit when here and offers insights into the traditional livelihood of local fisherfolk. At the site, you will find displays and exhibits which cover the lives of fishermen, tools and techniques used, varieties of fish caught and even local superstitions to do with fishing.
When the tide goes out at Tanjung Balau Beach, you also have the chance to see some rather intriguing rock formations, which will make for interesting photographs too. In fact, some of these rocks are said to date back to the Permo-Carboniferous age which means they are millions of years old!
