Housed in the former residence of HRH Prince Paribatra Sukhumbhand, the Bank of Thailand Museum traces the history and evolution of Thailand’s currency as well as the Bank of Thailand. Thai currency is considered a great cultural heritage by this thriving nation and therefore, the Bank of Thailand Museum was set up with the noble intention of preserving this legacy whch also showcases the evolution of Thailand as a kingdom. The age of the currency discovered here go as far as the 1st century and features currency from Funan, Sri Vijaya Kingdoms and Davaravati kingdoms. Also found here are Pot Duang Thai coins and banknotes, money from the north commonly referred to as Lanna money and the northeast money known as Lanchang. The museum also gives its visitors a comprehensive account of the roles and responsibilities of Bank of Thailand while important events of the history of the bank too are on display for the benefit of the interested.
