The Dubai Fountain is one of the most iconic features of the city in the modern era and pushes the paradigm in regards to what is achievable by such works of architecture.
Background
The fountain is designed by a California-based company that has built a variety of iconic fountains such as the one present in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
The Mechanism
The fountain is capable of spraying up to 83,000 litres of water into the air at any given moment. The fountain features more than 6600 lights and 25 colour projectors along with pyrotechnic functions as well. There are also mechanisms such as ‘water robots’ which are capable of making the water appear to dance.
Performances
Every day at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm, as well as every half-hour from 6 pm to 10 pm on weekdays, the fountains perform a variety of visual theatrics, accompanied by music, described as performances. These awe-inspiring visual displays include songs from artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Christopher Tin, Michael Jackson and Andrea Bocelli.
A Dubai Icon
The Dubai Fountain is truly a hallmark of this iconic city. If you’re vacationing at a place such as Oaks Liwa Heights, or one of many other hotels, resorts or serviced apartments Dubai has to offer, then your visit would be almost unfulfilled if you don’t experience this water-based wonder.
