Certain places evoke emotion, and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, is one of them. Located within a 15-minute driving distance from properties such as Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara, it encapsulates one of the greatest collections, consisting of more than 10,000 artifacts.
Location
The museum is located on its own island. It offers a splendid view of the shimmering waters of the Gulf through its arches. While you’re spending time at various Luxury hotels in Doha, make sure you keep aside some time to visit this spectacular construction.
The Building
From the inside out, the building that houses these magnificent collections is truly a masterpiece. It was designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect I. M. Pei who also designed the pyramids at the Louvre. He has come out of retirement at a very late age to design this architectural marvel.
The Collection
The objects on display are quite mesmerizing, which are collected from three continents over 1400 years. Everything is related to Islamic art from architecture and jewellery to armour and wall masks.
Facilities
In its fifth floor, the museum hosts the restaurant IDAM that is inspired by the French Mediterranean cuisine. With a gorgeous view of the Doha skyline, it also offers classes in artisanal cooking.
