The Pulau Payar Marine Park which lies between the islands of Langkawi and Penang is known for its abundant coral reefs, is a popular tourist destination in Malaysia.
The Palau Payar Marine Park
The park lies within four small islands Pulau Payar, Pulau Kaca, Palau Lemba and Pulau Segantang. The park is quite famous for its beautiful coral reefs and abundant algae which attracts larger species of fish.
How to Get There
Usually, a snorkeling/diving session would take up an entire day. The only way to get to the island is through daily tours.Which includes pick up and drop off from hotels such as Berjaya Hotels & Resorts which is among one of the best hotels & resorts in Malaysia. Lunch and the use of equipment too is a part of the tour as well.
Things to Keep in mind
Due to the increase in tourists coming in, the marine park has suffered in many ways in addition to coral bleeding. It’s always best to observe some rules in the best interest of preserving this beautiful place. Do not try to touch or feed the fish, do not stand of the corals and make sure to dispose of waste in a prudent manner.
An alternative location to go snorkeling is to visit the beautiful Thai Island of Koh Lipe which happens to only about a mere 30 minutes away from Langkawi.
