The Sathorn Unique will not be featured in your usual travel guide to Bangkok, however here’s all that you need toknow about the creepy ghostly building towering over Sathorn.
The vision
The building was originally named as Sathorn Unique Condominium and was set to be the most luxurious apartment in the city of Sathorn. Construction of the 49 storied building began in 1990 and was set to offer a magnificent view of the city!
The view
If you do manage to climb through the building – note this is illegal – but people still do it anyway; at their own caution obviously- you’ll get one of the best views of the city, especially of the Chao Phraya River and accommodation properties such as Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel, located a mere 11 minutes away.
Murder
It was alleged that the architect, Torsuwan plotted to murder the President of the Supreme Court in 1993.
Financial murder
Although construction began, the building was never completed as it was hit during the Asia Financial Crisis of 1997
What the locals say
Apparently the building was constructed on an ancient burial ground, which eventually angered the ghostly inhabitants. Climbing is entirely at your own risk as the dilapidated condition of the building is severe, with pieces of the building constantly falling off.
