Dongguan has recently been awarded “The National Excellence in Tourism” Award making it a highly approved by the Chinese Tourism Board as a place that is constantly visited by tourists and growing as China’s economy grows. Here are some places that tourists should visit when they are in Dongguan.

Humen Bridge
The first suspension bridge that was constructed and created by China alone, Humen Bridge was constructed in 1997 and spans across the estuary of the Pearl River. It stretches across a total length of 15.76 kilometres with 6 two-way traffic lanes. It is gorgeous and charming at night when it’s all lit up.
Humen Naval Battle Museum
Across 49 acres of land covering 4 exhibit halls, the Humen Naval Battle Museum looks like a huge warship. It is themed after the Opium Wars of 1840 – 1842 and with many vivid models, paintings and displays help to visualise what the naval battles of the Opium War were like. Admission is free and it is only a stone’s throw from Citadines Songshan Lake Dongguan.
Opium War Museum
The Opium War Museum is another site worth a visit and if you search for places to stay in Dongguan, almost all lists will have this place as a top recommendation.
Keyuan Garden
A famous garden that was part of the four by the Qing Dynasty circa 1640s to the 1900s, the garden which lies west of Dongguan is 0.54 acres of spectacular architecture and manicured garden. Is completely unlike its name, “a garden not too bad for visiting.
