The Tianjin Tower rises from the ravishing waters of a surrounding lake to pierce the sky and its velvety darkness at night with its gleaming sharp edge. The thin and lanky contours of the structure are only interrupted by a flying saucer like addition somewhere in the middle of the tower that lends some more breadth and personality to the structure. At a height of 415 metres the structure mingles with the World Federation of great towers.
The Tianjin Tower which was originally used exclusively as a communication tower has a base that is surrounded by an alluring lake and rises to the sky from the southern part of Tianjin. The structure is a strong and powerful presence in the city skyline, with its pointed edge, its parabolic shape contour as well as the flying saucer shaped landings about half way up the structure that reveals its ambitiously tall and thin stature with a graceful outline. While the tower sends a shimmering reflection onto the water below, its impressive height offers a spectacular view of the city from above.
One of the best things about the structure is that it is no longer solely used for communication. Today in addition to its broadcast room and other equipment areas, the tower offers an observation deck on the second floor complete with a telescopic set, which allows for spectacular cityscape views. It also has a souvenir counter as well as a bar that is frequented by visitors. Perhaps the most appealing feature is the revolving restaurant which rotates a single turn every 45 minutes, thus letting its diners enjoy a superb view all over the city, while enjoying a meal or sipping a beverage of their choice.
