Located in the Liaoning Province of the Republic of China, the city of Dalian is the second largest city in the province. A visit to Dalian City is bound to leave one in awe as the city is peppered with modern skyscrapers and innovative architecture such as the Tiaoyue Bridge. No trip to Dalian is complete without an excursion to the Tiger Beach Ocean Park. Spanning nearly three hundred acres, it is home to a range of both natural and man-made sights.
Also known as the Laohutan Ocean Park, Tiger Beach houses the Polar Region Marine Animals World, the World of Birds and the Coral Aquarium. The Polar Region Marine Animals World is a frequently visited attraction at the Park because it hosts not only beloved marine species such as penguins and dolphins, but it also features Beluga Whales, sea elephants, sea otters and other species that are considered rare sights in China. It also has a large performance hall which can accommodate up to two thousand people where the animals frequently put on endearing shows of skill and talent. These displays are complemented by the Coral Aquarium which is believed to the the largest of its kind on the continent. The Laohutan Ocean Park also has a number of tiger sculptures crafted by reknown Chinese artist Mr. Han Meilin which can be viewed at the Tigers Sculpture Square.
Opening hours at Tiger Beach are from 8 am to 6pm, and visitors should be prepared to spend at least three hours there to explore and enjoy the attractions. A combo ticket is available for those that plan on trying out all the attractions. Visitors to the park who are planning on staying overnight in Dalian have a choice between starred hotels, guesthouses and Dalian serviced apartments. The latter affords the guests more autonomy than a hotel would, while still offering more complementary services than most guesthouses. Citadines Gugeng Dalian for example, offers to arrange transportation for its guests to and from Tiger Beach.
Tiger Beach is a must-visit attraction for tourists stopping by Dalian.
