The Tiger Temple or as locals call it the’ Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua’ is a Buddhist temple situated in the western part of Thailand, only a few hours away from Bangkok. The temple is particularly renowned for the inhabitants within temple premises. In addition to the Buddhist monks of the Theravadha discipline, there exist an impressive number of tame magnificent tigers that are adopted by the monks of the temple and doted on by both locals and tourists alike.
For the exceptional adventure seeker/tourist that wishes to both travel the world, bask in luxuries, and explore the far corners of foreign lands, the Tiger Temple is perhaps the ideal starting place. Even those who reside strictly within the bustling, modern city abodes like Sukhumvit, Serviced Apartments such as Citadines Sukhumvit 11 Bangkok, simply has to travel for a few hours to experience a significant change in the surroundings and culture which is an apparent far cry from the traditional tourist attractions. Amidst the exuberant fauna, far away from the volatility of the city, this temple is a wonderful and serene location where one can discover a singular form of thrill and excitement by observing giant felines ambling around seeking for affection (and treats!) from those who are present.
The Tiger Temple has previously been a simple forest monastery and place worship before the first ever tiger cub was adopted in the late 1990’s and since then, there had been a gradual increase of the tiger population in the temple up to over a hundred giant cats occupying the premises. The temple’s reputation for selfless and fearless kindness has resulted in its recognition by wild life conservation authorities as a far more commendable alternative to the traditional sanctuaries for endangered animals. Presently, the monastery receives a steady stream of volunteers both from the wild life conservation officials and the well intending tourists to help take care of these rare and majestic creatures.
