Ranked among South Asia’s top holiday hotspots, Sri Lanka is a beach paradise for the masses. Here are 10 tips that all travellers must know to enjoy a memorable getaway on the island.
1.It’s Perfectly Safe
Sri Lanka is a safe destination despite the 30-year-long civil war that concluded in 2009. Even previously closed-off areas in the island’s north are now open to visitors.
2.Visa
You will need a tourist visa to visit Sri Lanka and it is possible to apply online as long as your passport is valid for 6 months after the end of the tour.
3.Vaccinations
It is recommended to get vaccinations for rabies, Hepatitis A and B, typhoid and Poliomyelitis prior to visiting Sri Lanka, especially if your government requires them. Sri Lankan immigration authorities do not require tourists to be vaccinated against any other diseases except COVID-19.
4. Timing
The best time to visit Sri Lanka is from December to March when it is sunny and dry.
5. Less is More
As a tropical country with humid and warm weather conditions, there’s no need to overpack for a holiday in Sri Lanka, especially if you are planning on staying at The Beach House or any one of the other coastal boutique hotels in Sri Lanka.
