The museum holds a large number of coins and currency which were used before the introduction of the dirham as the official currency of the United Arab Emirates in 1973. Thus, one can witness the many different types of coins that were used throughout the ages, as well as the different kinds of currency notes that existed. Once can also witness the first sets of coins and notes issued after adopting the dirham, as well as many commemorative coins and machinery used in counting and printing money. The museum also holds a decent collection of currency from other countries as well.
