Uluwatu Temple is a sea temple and it’s location at the edge of the rock looks as if though the temple is on guard overlooking the sea. The name ‘Ulu’ in the local dialect means “land’s end” and the term ‘watu’ means rock. The temple is also known as Pura Luhur which translates to – “something of divine origin”. The temple is believed to have expanded in the 11th century under the Javanese.

July to August is regarded as the best time to go as it is considered to be a cool dry period , however, the tourist arrivals are at its peak. March to September is considered to be a great period to enjoy excellent views of the sunset.
