With an impressive collection of over 400 handmade Thai dolls to its name the museum also plays a pivotal role in preserving the art of traditional Thai doll making and the various cultural attributes of the items such as costumes, for future generations.
Divided in to two sections the museum’s outer room displays collector’s items and antique dolls that are not for sale while the inner quarters contain dolls that are available for purchase. Highlighting scenes from Thai rural life, the dolls emulate the lifestyles of the northern hill tribes of Thailand and some performing the Khon dance drama are some of the features at the venue. The morning scene depicted in the showcase, imitates monks collecting alms from passerby boats.
Collector’s dolls clad in the traditional costumes of various nations across the world are also found here with national costumes of countries such as Russia, Belgium, India, Turkey, Egypt, Netherlands, Austria, France, South Korea, Greece, Poland, Hungary and Laos recreated in stunning detail.
