Here’s a chance to explore the seas that surround Oman for a surreal experience and a chance to get up close to at least a few of the many species that call it their home! Here are a few great spots to go diving.
Al Fahal Island
This island was uncovered by the changing sea levels over the years. Blacktip reef sharks enjoy the shallow sandbanks that surround the island of Al Fahal which is located 4 kilometres off Muscat’s Al Qurum Beach. The island has a nickname of ‘Shark Island’ and is almost like diving into an aquarium! 39 different types of corals have been found on this island, making it a beautiful reef to dive in. Less than three hours away from Al Wadi Hotel Sohar, don’t miss out on this treasure!
Daymaniyat Islands
Famously known as the ‘jewel of dining’ in Oman, the islands are known for being the nesting ground for Hawksbill Sea Turtles. Together with the island’s pristine coral gardens and rich marine life that is found around the islands, this archipelago of nine rocky islands was designated the very first marine reserve in Oman.
Turtle City
If you’re a beginner to diving, you’re in luck as Oman is home to five of the world’s seven turtle species. The dive site known as Turtle city is a must-visit as the turtles here are plentiful. From your family hotel in Oman, make sure you don’t miss out!
