Monte Forte in Macau is a part of one of the most ancient fort buildings in China. It takes a Western style and that brings an amazing colonial charm.
The historical facts
This fort building has been built in the 16th century. Although it was primarily constructed by the Jesuits, it then became a centre base of defence activities.
Monte Forte today
Today, it’s an awesome tourist attraction. It’s an integral part of the Macau Historic Centre. It’s open for visitors daily from 7.00 am to 7.00 pm.

The giant steel gun
It’s one of the most popular treasures among travellers. It’s merely a relic today, but that says a lot about the proud history of Macau.
