Thailand’s Buddhist heritage runs deep, and if you find yourself on the beautiful island of Phuket there’s an astonishing array of Buddhist temples and places of worship to see.

Big Buddha
Phuket’s Big Buddha is one of the island’s most iconic hallmarks. This massive statue can be found on top of Nakkerd Hills between Kata and Chalong, and is a looms over the countryside with a height of forty-five metres.
Wat Phra Thong
Situated near the Thalang district office, this temple is famous for its half-buried golden statue of the Buddha. The statue is supposedly cursed, and anyone who attempts to touch it or unearth it will supposedly be cursed.
Wat Phranang Sang
This is definitely one of the most fascinating temples in Phuket, and its name translates to ‘Temple of White Blood’. This is because it is believed that long ago, a princess was executed for a crime she didn’t commit, and she bled white during the execution as a sign of her innocence.
Wat Chalong
The Grand Pagoda of this temple is believed to contain a bone shard belonging to the Buddha himself, making this one of the most sacred temples situated in Phuket. If you’re staying at one of many Phuket luxury villas in Thailand with examples like Kata Rocks, be sure to check out this temple.
