Having an unparalleled time in Koh Samui is easier than you’d think! An amazing way to get rid of the exhaustion of the daily grind – check out what you can do to bring a little excitement to your Koh Samui trip.
Ang Thong National Marine Park
The island archipelago within Ang Thong Park is full of the bounties of nature, with limestone mountains, jungle wilds, beaches, mangroves, waterfalls, and all other kinds of structures and formations, the collection of 42 islands is a protected area covering over 100sq.km of land and sea and is also home to many kinds of exotic wildlife. Consider an excursion this way if you’re looking for a different experience from your stay at a luxury resort like the Avani Chaweng Samui Hotel & Beach Club.
The Big Buddha
One of the most famous shrines of Koh Samui, this 12m tall golden Buddha statue is prominent enough to be seen from several miles away, sitting serenely in the Mara posture. Representing the steadfastness and resistance to temptation before enlightenment, the surrounding temple is full of smaller Buddha statues, as well as stalls around the area for charms and souvenirs.
Hin Ta and Hin Yai
The Grandpa and Grandma Rocks of Lamai Beach have a chuckle-worthy local legend – they look like human genitalia. As a source of laughter for many an adolescent visitor, the rocks have a story behind them, however – the story of Grandpa Kreng and Grandma Riem, who lived with their son. Apart from the giggles, the view of the area is simply spectacular, as the sea roils and toils near the islands close by and is a great stop-off from any of the Chaweng Beach Koh Samui hotels.
Traditional Temples
Koh Samui stands as a treasure trove of both cultural richness and breathtaking beauty. While all temples throughout Thailand hold sacred significance, only a select few achieve iconic status or boast intricate embellishments. Among these revered places of worship, Wat Plai Lem and Wat Khunaram shine as exquisite examples, with their awe-inspiring architecture and noteworthy features, including the presence of a revered mummified monk.
