A nature reserve home to over 10,000 animals that freely roam in this natural habitat, the Arabian Wildlife Park at Sir Bani Yas Island offers an unforgettable safari adventure in Abu Dhabi.
The Beginning
This park was initially established in 1971 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of the UAE. It was created in order to help in the conservation of endangered animals, especially species on the brink of extinction in the Arabian Peninsula and the UAE. Today, one of the foremost Sir Bani Yas island activities is to embark on a wildlife safari at the park.
Wildlife Safaris
4×4 wildlife drives with guides are a popular choice when it comes to safaris and are organised by Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts, the only accommodation provider on the island. Apart from vehicles, one can also choose a guided nature & wildlife walk to get a more up close experience.
Success Stories
Amongst the biggest success stories here is the conservation of the Arabian Oryx and the Scimitar-horned Oryx. Both were declared extinct in the wild, but today can be seen freely roaming in large numbers at the Arabian Wildlife Park.
Other Animals
On your wildlife safari in Sir Bani Yas Island, you also have the chance of spotting cheetahs, caracals, Arabian mountain gazelles and reticulated giraffes to name a few.
Bird Life
The park also plays host to varied bird life with the greater flamingo, osprey, rhea and blue necked ostrich amongst the species that can be found here.
