The greatly esteemed Wolong National Nature Reserve is a major nature sanctuary in China’s province of Sichuan. This extensive natural sanctuary occupies an area of approximately 200,000 hectares in the vicinity of the mountainous Qionglai region. In addition to the pandas many other interesting kinds of wildlife may be found at the reserve. Prominent herbivores include such creatures as musk deer, wild boars, takins, serows, sambar deer and tufted deer. Carnivorous animals include dholes, leopards, black bears, red pandas, golden cats, martens and hog badgers. Other interesting local denizens include Tibetan macaques, golden monkeys, flying squirrels, porcupines and bamboo rats.
An interesting aspect of the reserve is that it includes different climatic zones, so that both temperate and tropical climatic zones may be found here. Therefore you will find creatures native to temperate zones such as snow leopards, Eurasian lynxes and white lip deer here, along with wildlife native to the tropical zone. With so much to see and admire a visit to Wolong will always be memorable.
