One of the city’s most famous temples, Wong Tai Sin Temple is a popular place to visit amongst locals who are drawn to this sacred site since it is believed to be a place where you can learn about your future. Situated n the north of Kowloon, this Taoist temple was constructed in 1921 and the premises span an area of around 18,000 square metres.
The site has been named after Wong Chuping, a shepherd who started following Taoism when he was just 15 years old. Later he reached enlightenment and subsequently attained immortality and it was after this that he was referred to as Wong Tai Sin. Devotees believe that Wong Tai Sin has the power to grant the request of wishes and heal the wounded and it is for this reason that many people visit this site. Soothsayers can also be found on the premises and interpret the fortunes of worshippers who come here.
