Despite being an artist exposed to European studies for numerous years, Xu Beihong as presented in the Museum portrays a deep sense of Chinese patriotism. Among the work seen in the building include a portrait of Jiufang Gao, a man notable for his love of horses. Other oil paintings of repute include those titled ‘the Five Hundred Soldiers in the Field’ and the ‘Foolish Old Man Removing Mountains’ both demonstrating his abiding respect for his motherland.
