The island of Sri Lanka despite being a fairly small place has incredibly diverse landscapes. The coasts are lined with gorgeous beaches with backgrounds ranging from lush tropical forest to rustic coastal villages. If you’re seeking superabundant jungle hilltops, then you have to make your way towards the more central areas of Sri Lanka. These areas contain some of the most pristine and beautiful examples of forest landscapes in Asia, such as Bandarawela, which is a popular tourist attraction with much accommodation to choose from such as the Bandarawela Hotel.
Porawagala is one of the best places to visit in Bandarawela, and offers some breathtaking sights of the entire town. It is situated on a tall hill-top and if you were to reach it you can glimpse the town of Bandarawela in its entirety. Porawagala is also fairly secluded and many tourists head to the more popular areas such as Ella, located close by. It is an ideal place for seekers of serenity who would like to dwell in a slice of heavenly mountain-top and enjoy the views to their heart’s content. On certain days one should also be able to see Diyaluma Falls, one of the most picturesque waterfalls on the island which is more than six hundred feet in height. The Rawana Ella, another beautiful waterfall located nearby too, and although it is much shorter, with a height of only one hundred and thirty feet, it is a very mythical and sacred place.
There are many other sacred places located close by to Porawagala as well, such as the Dhowa Rock Temple which was built by King Walagamba who was a ruler from that time. The temple contains a massive forty-foot-high statue of the Buddha which was carved out of the rock.
If you find yourself in Sri Lanka, be sure not to miss out on a chance to see this incredible place.
