Looking to escape the bustling streets of Colombo and get in some relaxation or maybe even some recreation? Make a beeline to Viharamahadevi Park, the only central park in the city!

Where Is It?
It can be found in the Colombo 07 area, in a part of the city that’s known as “Town Hall” due to the distinctive Town Hall building that stands across from the park. Easy to reach from luxury apartments in Colombo including those belonging to John Keells Properties, the park can be accessed by tuk-tuks, taxis or public buses.
What to Expect
Those arriving from the main entrance will find a huge Buddha statue along with fountains and a rectangular pond. There are vast green spaces interspersed with gardens, trees and flowering plants as well as gazebos and benches where you can just sit back and watch the world go slowly by.
Other Highlights
There are specific tracks for cycling and jogging for those looking to get in some recreation, while kids will love the playground area with swings, see-saws and more. Viharamahadevi Park also has a suspension bridge that’s quite popular and an open-air stadium which hosts a variety of events amidst this charming setting.
