History of A-Ma Temple
For the most part this stunning temple is considered as the oldest and certainly most famous temple in Macau. The tale of Macau
It is believed that given the existence of this temple prior to the Dutch, when they finally did arrive, it was in close proximity of the temple. They inquired about the name of the land and the locals misunderstood their questions and called it ‘Ma Ge’ which over time became ‘Macau’.
