Consecrated in the year 1871, the All Saints Church Galle is a magnificent monument on a basilican plan, in Victorian Gothic Revival style. While there are plenty of Sri Lanka hotels in which one can lodge during the visit, it is always wise to choose one of the Sri Lanka beach hotels located within the vicinity such as Heritance Ahungalla to allow the ease of travel. Located within the magnificent historical Galle Fort, the church was built on the site of the old Court House Geregts-plaats and it is said that the present altar stands where the gallows had once been. The architecture is of a 13th century gothic building but the structure has been modified to suit the local climate so that the interiors of the church remain cool right throughout. The old bell that had once upon a time hung in the bell loft with the Latin inscription ‘in memory of George Justus Schrader’ now hangs in the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour.
