For all the nature lovers out there, surely, waterfalls are irresistible with that milky white veil of water gushing into a pool with the sweetest roar of nature. Cairns has many waterfalls within its borders and here are a few highlights.
Josephine Falls
This waterfall has two pools and an exciting natural rockslide which is absolutely beautiful. The upper pool is quite alluring, still swimming here is prohibited. The lower pool is much larger and quite safe for swimming and is frequented by both locals and tourists. It is just an hour south of Cairns.
Crystal Cascades
Located just 25 minutes away from Brisbane hotels in Cairns CBD, Crystal cascades is famous for clear waters and many swimming holes for fun all day long! You can trek towards the highest point of the falls or you could chill in a little shady pool.
Fairy Falls
This natural plunge pool is indeed one of the most magical and mysterious falls you could explore and is easily accessible 15 minutes away from the car park of Crystal Cascades. You might need to hop over a few rocks to find Fairy Falls in what seems like a world away from earth.
Old Weir Falls at Stoney Creek
Stoney Creek is yet another favourite among the locals and is a short drive away from Oak Cairns Hotel. Travel through a rainforest and over a footbridge that follows the creek and do a 25-minute walk towards the waterfall. There are many pools for swimming too.
