As an all-inclusive place of worship this historic church welcomes committed Christians from all across the world to its breathtaking quarters to experience an encounter with the spiritual realm. A breathtaking architectural wonder in its own right the church and its expansive grounds are spread out over an expansive area of nearly 100,000 square feet. Renowned state-wide for its eclectic program for worshippers the church also offers initiatives for individuals from all walks of life and in various stages of maturity. From young children to engaging teenagers and young adult First United Methodist Church’s religious itinerary caters to middle aged parishioners as well as the elderly. In fact the church’s core congregation includes 150 children and teens while 800 adult members are also part of the all-inclusive theological discourse aimed at growth and service among parishioners.
Some of the church’s most coveted programs are of course its various ministries geared at engaging various factions of the congregation to meet individual and age-appropriate spiritual needs and guidance. The Children’s Ministry is one such shining example as the year round initiative goes beyond traditional Sunday School classes to include winter camps, children’s choir worships and a summer Sunday school. The Youth Ministry in contrast caters to 7 to 12 year olds and focuses on studies and fellowship with drama programs, choir tours, winter break programs and summer camps. The Music Ministry is deeply involved with the Youth Ministry and is the church’s most attractive program for music lovers. Several ensembles including two children’s choirs and a Chancel choir are also part of the comprehensive initiative to bring the congregation together through religious music. Other successful programs in the church include its intercongregational initiatives, a Boy Scout’s league, Adult Ministry and fellowship.
