Horton Plains is one of the world’s best natural reserves and eco-tourism venues. It is mainly covered in beautiful landscapes of rolling mountains, covered in upper montane forest and wet patina grassland. This national Park is about 10,000 actress, and mainly covered in fauna and flora that is endemic to Sri Lanka. There are about 57 wide variety of Fauna, out of which about 29 is endemic to Sri Lanka. There are also 24 species of mammals which includes elk, deer, porcupine, wild boar, wild hare, giant squirrel and leopard. There are also a wide variety of birds including 84 species, out of which 14 is endemic to Sri Lanka. The Horton Plains also features many interesting attractions including ”Baker Falls” and ”Chimmini Pools” and the very famous World’s End. The World’s End drops to about 3700 feet, and offers fabulous views of the beautiful and unique tea estates and also the southern coastline is also visible from this point. The Horton Plains National Park is a paradise for butterflies, as well. Among reptiles are Snake Aspidurabrachyorrhos and the wide spread agamid Calotesnigrilabris. The only fish is the introduced rainbow trout Salmogardneri. The distribution of the endemic fresh water shrimp Caridinasinghalensis is believed to be confined to a 10k, stretch of river within the park. Guests can do many adventurous outings such as hiking and trekking along the nature trails. They can go canoeing, along the river, do fishing and enjoy campfires and get an authentic nature experience.
